It might seem strange that I ask this question because it isn’t as if the interest in online poker has waned or that people have become bored of the game, quite the contrary. Poker continues to grow which is undoubtedly great for both the game, and it’s acceptance as an enjoyable pastime the world over.
It has to be said however, that the number of poker rooms that have been opening up in the last few years has not been insignificant. We currently have poker rooms run by Sky, one by Virgin, there was alo one run by WSOP champion, Johnny Chan, along with all the betting companies, and established sites too. You have to admit that’s a lot of online poker rooms, and it would seem impossible that room growth is not exceeding relative player growth as each room needs thousands of new players in order to run properly.
Everybody who was anybody appeared to be opening rooms a year or two ago, but with changes in U.S legislation, and a market that has to be getting a little flooded for choice, perhaps things will slow down now. One thing is for certain, as popular as poker continues to be, there is only enough room for a certain number of poker rooms.
