PokerRoom.com Online Poker Site

September 16th, 2009

PokerRoom.com online poker site are one of many rooms that have opened since the boom in the games popularity. At first it would be fair to surmise that poker rooms were seeing serious rewards for the widespread surge of poker playing, but can the same profits still be rolling in?

It might seem strange that I ask this question because it isn’t as if the interest in online poker has waned or that people have become bored of the game, quite the contrary. Poker continues to grow which is undoubtedly great for both the game, and it’s acceptance as an enjoyable pastime the world over.

It has to be said however, that the number of poker rooms that have been opening up in the last few years has not been insignificant. We currently have poker rooms run by Sky, one by Virgin, there was alo one run by WSOP champion, Johnny Chan, along with all the betting companies, and established sites too. You have to admit that’s a lot of online poker rooms, and it would seem impossible that room growth is not exceeding relative player growth as each room needs thousands of new players in order to run properly.

Everybody who was anybody appeared to be opening rooms a year or two ago, but with changes in U.S legislation, and a market that has to be getting a little flooded for choice, perhaps things will slow down now. One thing is for certain, as popular as poker continues to be, there is only enough room for a certain number of poker rooms.

The cannonball tournaments at PokerRoom.com are particularly well thought out, as they have a turbo blinds system for the first few levels until the blinds reach a reasonable size, and then the blind structure slows up to give as much unpressurised poker play as possible. Of course the blinds will always exert some pressure, but if you have a reasonable stack, you won’t be forced into playing marginal hands and taking big risks for all your chips.

Guaranteed tournaments can be found at PokerRoom.com too with prize pools running into tens of thousands of pounds. There are a group of sponsored pros which are young internet players, which shows PokerRoom.com has a willingness to embrace the players of the modern game. Hand histories, poker schooling, along with other beginners sections and tools at PokerRoom.com ensure that those who are unsure of their game can improve in no time.

Support is swift and helpful and is also available 24/7. Each month you will find a special guaranteed tournament or two, offering prize pools over $100,000. FullTiltPoker.com Online Poker Deposit Bonus

June 25th, 2009

FullTiltPoker.com realise what most customers want from an online poker room. This is why they are considered by many to be the best online poker room around. As well as catering for all those who are already regular players at FullTiltPoker.com, this poker room also look to have great offers in place for those wishing to find a new online poker room in which to play.

One of these offers is their sign up bonus, which may not look more spectacular than most online poker rooms, but is certainly a nice boost at 100%. This money is paid in addition to the amount of your first deposit, and goes up as high as first deposits of $600. Every time you use real money at FullTiltPoker.com, whether it is in poker tournament fees or at the cash tables, you will earn points.

These points will free up your bonus as you start playing onsite. The increments that are released to your account depends on the size of the initial deposit, but it basically comes down to either 10% of the total, or $20 depending on which comes first. You can view the funds that you have left to be released at any time, and how long you have left to claim the rest of the bonus.

One aspect that I like about this bonus, is the fact that you are not very pressed for time on how long it takes you to earn these points, with 120 days being more than enough time for most players to clear their bonus. Overall, this is a nice bonus to be found at FullTiltPoker.com, and one which thousands of players are taking advanatge of every day.

FullTiltPoker.com Review

Full Tilt Poker offer a 100% bonus on first deposits up to an amount of $600 which is a generous offer. Customizable avatars and smooth graphics at the tables make for enjoyable gameplay, and there are many other reasons why Full Tilt is regarded as one of the best online poker rooms around.

The team of professional players sponsored by Full Tilt show that the site is excellent in many regards, as catering for the best players in the world is no simple task I would imagine.

Promotions at Full Tilt include, satellites to huge tournaments both live, and online. Also running is a very good VIP system, with an online store offering great merchandise to spend your points on. Alongside this, there are some of the best tournaments to be found anywhere online here in my opinion. One example of which is the ‘Double Deuce’ tournament with a buy in of just $20+$2. The prize pool is $200k offering a chance to turn a fairly small amount of money into a large win. Happy hour at Full Tilt involves double points for a limited time, and there are refer a friend bonuses in place to help boost your funds.

Overall, there are simply too many promotions and bonuses for me to mention all of them, but suffice to say that this is an area in which Full Tilt excel.

When you consider the fact that help and support is of a very high standard to complement all the other great aspects of this site, you can see why Full Tilt is held in such high regard.

How Has Online Poker Changed The Face of the Game?

May 22nd, 2009

After playing on Poker Room I was thinking about how poker has exploded since the rise of online poker. I think it would be easy to underestimate the effect that online poker has had on the game itself. One point that immediately springs to mind is the sheer number of new poker players that have taken up the game. People from many walks of life have started to play, and this is probably due to the ease with which people can learn and play the game.

Poker has grown in popularity partly due to televised poker tournaments and their popularity, but the most important factor has to be the availability of online poker play.

Personally, I feel that the online game has contributed in players becoming vastly more skilled at Texas Holdem. People who enjoy the game can now play whenever they wish, and this has led to players getting a lot of practice. This may sound like bad news for talented poker players, but this isn’t entirely true, as most of them are beginning to take up residence in the Omaha rooms now instead. The pot limit nature of Omaha is important in this regard, as it means that unskilled players cannot simply shove all their money in preflop. Players are forced to play their hands on the flop when there are possibilities and dangers aplenty. This is where the skilled players should excersise their superior judgement and skill.

With these points in mind, you could actually say that the influence of online poker has been an entirely positive one, but there is one small concern in my mind with regards to the online game. If players cease to play live games altogether, that would be a very sad day for poker, but personally, I do not feel it is very likely that the live game will die out.

Pokerroom.com – The Breakthrough

March 19th, 2009

www.pokerroom.com – I know I am probably not alone in my thinking at the moment, but I have recently wondered if I am perhaps playing differently to how I should in the latter stages of MTT’s. in the last two days I have played in two such tournaments, reaching 24th out of 298 in the first, and 29th out of 328 in the second. It is nice to make it into the money of course, but also frustrating not to make it to the final table.

PLAY NOW

it often seems to me that I have a tendancy to tighten up as the blinds increase if I have built a strong stack in the first hour or two. I suppose this could be the problem, as despite ensuring I make it deep into the tournament, I am simply not taking enough risks to build a stack that can carry me to the final table. You could argue that it is important to be stealing blinds and making a raise with marginal hands preflop when in position to, and I think that this is probably what I will attempt next time I am in this position.

Perhaps it is a general flaw in my play that I always try and sense danger and make good folds, but then this in itself is imperitive to surviving in MTT’s. But having said this, you can still practice caution if faced with a big raise on the flop, whilst also making strong plays preflop too.

As with most things, I guess it is simply a case of striking a balance. I tighten up too much when the blinds starting getting big I feel, and shall work on this aspect in the coming weeks.
Recent success in live events has not been plagued by the same problem interestingly, and so perhaps it is best to examine my live play and look at where the differences lie. Pokeroom.com

Fulltiltpoker.com – My Recent Tournaments

March 12th, 2009

www.fulltiltpoker.com – After the the past few weeks action I felt a partial break was deserved this week. Thats not to say I have not played at all of course, that would be unthinkable. Besides which, I have to pick up points in our local poker league table.
Having played two less games than most people on the table as I was unwell for a little while, my position is 14th place out of 41. This weeks action did not improve my position greatly however, as I really couldn’t find a hand all night.

{full tilt poker:Link:PLAY NOW }

In an hour and a half of play, the biggest Ace I picked up was (Ah,9h) and the biggest pair was (10,10) with which I picked up only the blinds. Sometimes I suppose you can turn up with all the aspirations in the world for your evenings game, but if lady luck stonewalls you, you can’t really pick up many chips. I guess it would be unfair to say I had no luck at all though. After three players had flat called the blinds and I was getting short stacked, I decided to make a risky all in shove from the big blind with (8c,4d) and walked into (A,A). I do not know why the player didn’t raise with them, but if it was because he felt I was going to push my shortstack in, it was a great read. Luck was on my side on that occasion as I picked up three 4’s on the turn and completed a Full House on the river. This week I will hopefully have a better time of things at our local event, and will perhaps catch up on some cash play with some friends, hopefully, with better results. fulltiltpoker.com

Fulltiltpoker.com – The Differeing Variations of Poker

February 24th, 2009

www.fulltiltpoker.com – Over the years, and indeed centuries, poker has evolved. From it’s humble beginnings, the game has developed and grown into being played with the current day 52 card deck, and from there have grown many variations of the original idea of poker. We have Five Card Draw, we have Omaha, as well as Seven, and Five Card Stud, 3 card poker, and all manner of other games, some of which stretch the boundaries of what is really ‘poker’. But the fact is that it doesn’t really matter what these games are classified as, because essentially, they are all the same in essence. They provide a challenge of wit and skill and the chance for people to sit down together and socialise.

{full tilt poker:Link:PLAY NOW }

There is no doubt though that wherever a game of poker is played too often by someone, such are the joys of it, the game needs to be moulded and changed slightly. Most people who play poker will have at a home game somewhere, played a version where you have wild cards, or an extra card or twist somewhere, and I suppose that is the beauty of a deck of cards. They are incredibly flexible in terms of the different games you can play with them, and you can introduce new twists to almost any existing game.
Personally, I am always keen to learn new variations of poker as I think it helps your all round game to have to work out the subtleties and way to win, in what is often a different game entirely. Fulltiltpoker.com
